There have just been two or three subzero nights this winter so far

For Grand Forks, the average number of subzero minimum temperatures is 55.Records for Grand Forks began in 1893 and so do not include the terribly cold 1880s.With that in mind, the record for a winter is 88 days in the winter of 1978-79 and the fewest is 20 in 1930-31.Since records began in 1881, the average number of days with a low temperature below zero during the cold season in Fargo-Moorhead is 48 days.

With winter only about halfway through, Hector International Airport has recorded just two such days.Last year, the metro recorded 34 below-zero days.
