Two found guilty for deaths of 39 migrants in truck
Two men were found guilty by a UK court Monday for their role in an illegal people-smuggling operation that left 39 migrants dead.

Romanian mechanic Gheorghe Nica, 43, and Northern Irish truck driver Eamonn Harrison, 24, were convicted of 39 counts of manslaughter, as well as conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration, the Crown Prosecution Service announced.Ronan Hughes, 41, and Maurice Robinson, 26, previously admitted 39 counts of manslaughter and Christopher Kennedy and Valentin Calota were both found guilty Monday for conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration.(Aaron Chown/AP) “This is an unimaginably tragic case.Some were able to express their last words to their families on their mobile phones when they knew their situation was hopeless,” Russell Tyner of the CPS Organized Crime Division said in a statement.

But we hope that these convictions bring some measure of solace to their families that the perpetrators of these actions have faced justice.They arrived in Belgium and were then driven by Harrison to the Belgian port of Zeebrugge for transport to the UK.
