The twin airstrikes launched in coordination with the Somali government targeted al-Shabab compounds near the town of Qunyo Barrow, AFRICOM said in a statement.

Three al-Shabab militants were killed in the strikes and six buildings were destroyed, AFRICOM said in a statement.The twin airstrikes launched in coordination with the Somali government targeted al-Shabab compounds near the town of Qunyo Barrow, AFRICOM said in a statement released Saturday.Most of them will be relocated to countries elsewhere in East Africa, from where they can rapidly move in and out of Somalia, AFRICOM has said.Joel Tyler, director of operations for AFRICOM, said in Saturday's statement.

AFRICOM has said it believes al-Shabab to be the most “dangerous, capable, and imminent threat” on the continent, according to a Defense Department inspector general report released Nov.“Current assessments indicate the strikes killed three and wounded one al-Shabab members and destroyed six and damaged one al-Shabab compound buildings,” the statement said.
