Teachers strike puts French government under pressure amid COVID surge – POLITICO
The government has reviewed coronavirus guidelines in schools several times since the holidays.

The protests have put Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer on the defense after a series of blunders over the COVID-19 pandemic.“A majority of teachers are going on strike, there’s a deep anger against the disdain of the [education minister] Blanquer,” wrote the union in a tweet.Teachers' unions have also accused the education minister of being tin-eared to their concerns.Large demonstrations are expected later Thursday as almost all teachers' unions have called on staff to go on strike, in a rare show of unity among unions.

" Teachers unions are demanding better protection against the coronavirus in classrooms and the distribution of better-quality masks and carbon-dioxide detectors.Sixty-two percent of staff in primary and secondary schools have gone on strike, said the Snes-FSU, the largest teachers' union in French secondary education.
