A student at Rancho Verde High in Moreno Valley was arrested on Friday, May 26, after school district police found a loaded gun in his backpack, Val Verde Unified Police Chief Mark Clark said.Police were investigating the intentions of the male student, Clark said.They had the student leave the classroom and took him to the office, where they searched his backpack and found the weapon, Clark said., Clark said.

The chief said investigators were unaware of any threats.The student was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm on school grounds.
