A screening panel has submitted four finalists for Gov. Mike DeWine to consider as he moves to fill a vacancy on the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

Mike DeWine has gotten a list of four finalists for a vacancy on the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.The PUCO Nominating Council interviewed eight candidates on Monday, winnowing the list down to four finalists.ProgressOhio, a liberal organization in Columbus, issued a statement calling on DeWine not to hire French or Vogel, citing political contributions French had received from the utility industry while she ran for the court, and citing Vogel’s past work for AEP.“If DeWine picks another person with deep ties to the utility industry to oversee that same industry, he is abandoning consumers in favor of big moneyed special interests,” ProgressOhio Managing Director Michael McGovern said in a statement.
