A couple that sought sanctuary from Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a Philadelphia church basement for 843 days left the building Monday after receiving assurance that ICE would support their case to stay in the U.S.

According to CBS Philadelphia, Clive, 61, and Oneita Thompson, 48, fled Jamaica in 2004 when a gang burned their farm and threatened to kill them.However, the Trump administration moved to deport Clive and Oneita.According to the Inquirer, it was not immediately clear why the Trump administration had dropped its case against the Thompsons, but it could be a signal that the incoming Biden administration will not adopt hard-line immigration policies.“My whole heart is ready to go,” Oneita Thompson told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
