No new positive COVID-19 tests for the Browns Sunday morning; game on vs. Steelers
At about 8:30 Saturday night, they placed cornerback Kevin Johnson on the COVID-19 reserve list, where he joins starting cornerback Denzel Ward and four others who will all have to miss the Steelers game.Sendejo and Ward tested positive this week, and safety Karl Joseph was activated off the reserve list as a contact of Sendejo’s and will play Sunday. They got five players back on Thursday from the COVID-19 reserve list in receivers Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones and KhaDarel Hodge, and linebacker Jacob Phillips. The Steelers had some significant COVID-19 woes of their own Saturday with starting cornerback Joe Haden, tight end Eric Ebron and linebacker Cassius Marsh being placed on the COVID-19 reserve list and ruled out for the game.
Johnson likely would have started the game in place of Ward, who tested positive for the virus on Thursday. They had to shut down their facility in the morning for the third time in four days when a second assistant coach tested positive.
