National Weather Service Cleveland advises to travel early on Christmas Eve, with snow coming around midday

The temperature is expected to see a stark drop on Christmas Eve once the afternoon rolls around.

“And so with that dramatic drop in temperature, our concern is because of the rain that we’re expecting tonight (Wednesday) into tomorrow morning, ODOT is not going to be able to pre-treat the roads because it would just wash off any solution,” Griffin said.Griffin said with the roads wet and possibly having no treatment, the NWS is worried about possible ice storming and flash freeze situations.In Northeast Ohio, a white Christmas is certain as Griffin said the NWS is “very confident” most of the area will have at least an inch of snow or several inches on the ground Christmas morning.“Lesser amounts are going to be further west, so west of Lorain County, out toward the islands and down into like the Marion area, one to three (inches),” Griffin said.

” Griffin said it’s a “pretty good bet” 3-6 inches of snow will come along the I-77 corridor, but more snow will possibly come eastward after the storm passes and lake effect snow ensues.Christmas will be cold, with the wind chill forecast at 0-5 degrees, Griffin said.
