xml:space="preserve"> xml:space="preserve"> Arson has been blamed for a fire that killed one firefighter, a member of the National Guard, and injured three others Sunday in West Virginia.at an empty, two-story wood-and-stone barn in Baker Heights, less than 30 minutes after another arson fire started a few miles away, according to the West Virginia State Fire Marshall.Multiple fire departments sent aid, including the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg, part of the West Virginia Air National Guard.Anyone with any information is urged to call the West Virginia Arson Hotline at 800-233-3473.
A responding firefighter, who has not been publicly identified, was fatally injured during the efforts, the National Guard announced Sunday.Baker Heights Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Chief Cory Roberts told the Herald-Mail that three other firefighters were also injured, but their conditions are unclear.
