More allergic reactions triggered by COVID vaccine than expected
The head scientific adviser for Operation Warp Speed revealed there have been significantly more allergic reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine than other immunizations.Earlier this week, a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases official said the United States is looking into what in the vaccine is triggering the severe allergic reactions. The study – which is still in the early planning phases – is expected to include “several hundred” people who have a history of severe allergic reactions, Alkis Togias, chief of the NIAID’s Allergy, Asthma, and Airway Biology Branch, told CNBC.Moncef Slaoui told CNN that as of Tuesday, that six people have experienced reactions to the two-jab treatment, developed by pharmaceutical company Pfizer and its German-based partner, BioNTech.
