Met Office warning EXTENDED as heavy snow to hit today in freezing winter blast

THE MET OFFICE has extended its warnings again as heavy snow and ice are expected to batter Britain on Thursday in a freezing winter blast.

The Met Office has issued a yellow snow warning for parts of the UK as the weather agency warns residents to watch out for travel delays and power cuts.The Met Office writes: "An area of rain pushing eastwards is expected to turn snow in places as it encounters colder air across Scotland and parts of northern and Eastern England.Met Office warning EXTENDED as heavy snow to hit today in freezing winter blast - latest maps UK weather forecast: The snow will be concentrated across certain parts of the country READ MORE UK snow forecast: 'Significant' snow event to hit today In England, the affected areas are expected to be: East Midlands Nottinghamshire Leicestershire North East England Newcastle-upon-Tune North West England Greater Manchester West Midlands Yorkshire & The Humber North Yorkshire South Yorkshire West Yorkshire York UK weather forecast: The Met Office has issued a warning for parts of England and Scotland The rest of England will see heavy rainfall, particularly in London and the South East, who aren’t expected to see any snow.Met Office forecaster Matthew Box said: “The snow will continue throughout the day.

” The Met Office warned there is “no question” there will be travel disruptions in Scotland, and concerns are rife for motorists on motorways which fall right in the middle of the warning area.Oliver Claydon from the Met Office said: “These are significant accumulations of snow we are predicting.
