The Lagos State Government has said its collaboration with Standard Chartered Bank to plant 250 Queen palm trees on Victoria Island will help tackle climate change.

5th August 2022 File photo: Tree seedlings 5th August 2022 The Lagos State Government has said its collaboration with Standard Chartered Bank to plant 250 Queen palm trees on Victoria Island will help tackle climate change.The General Manager of the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency, Mrs Adetoun Popoola, disclosed this, according to a statement on Thursday, during a tree-planting exercise held on Victoria Island.” Planting of trees is one of the ways to mitigate the effect of climate change on the environment and environmental sustainability is the top priority of our organisation’s agenda,” he said.“We are happy that Standard Chartered Bank identifies with what we do at LASPARK and have chosen to support our mandate to plant 250 trees and protect the environment.

” In his remarks, the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Lamin Manjang, highlighted the need for everyone to protect the environment.One of the simplest and cheapest ways to do this is by planting trees.
