A defective great shifter is to blame for a Range Rover rollaway that killed a 41-year-old Los Angeles woman in 2018, according to a lawsuit.

A defective gear shifter is to blame for a Range Rover rollaway that killed a 41-year-old Los Angeles woman in 2018, according to a lawsuit.The deadly incident was captured on video and shows Shadi Farhat get out of a 2017 Range Rover which starts rolling backwards and drags her under the wheels.The suit also cites internal company documents that indicate Jaguar was aware of hundreds of potential rollaway issues with its vehicles with a dial shifter, including dozens with Range Rover.Gina Warsavsky is also suing Jaguar over a 2020 incident where her Range Rover came out of park, knocked her over and crushed her hand, which required reconstructive surgery.

However, Jaguar Land Rover only added those protections to hybrid Range Rover models.Her husband, Michael Farhat, filed a lawsuit against Jaguar Land Rover for a “defective gear selector” which he blames for his wife’s death.
