Botswana: Shun Corruption

Tati East legislator, Dr Douglas Letsholathebe has appealed to the North East District leadership to shun corruption. Addressing the leadership in a joint meeting with his Tati West counterpart, Mr Simon Moabi recently, Dr Letsholathebe said corruption could destroy the economy.

Earlier on when briefing the two legislators, acting District Commissioner, Ms Itani Mathumo said the district was facing serious challenges of unemployment.She said the district had so far registered 383 cases of which 96 were cumulative while 125 were active and the remaining 162 were stable.Ms Mathumo said the district COVID -19 task team was doing its best to reach out various communities in all the 23 villages of the district.p Francistwon — Tati East legislator, Dr Douglas Letsholathebe has appealed to the North East District leadership to shun corruption.

However, she explained that the North East district was doing all it could to resuscitate the district economy by diversifying its economy through fish and mophane farming, as well as Morula processing.Ms Mathumo explained that like any other district, North East District was also badly affected by COVID-19, saying on December 23, the district introduced rapid tests at borders and that truck drivers were assisted as and when they arrived.
