In case you haven’t been paying attention, Pakalu Papito is the Internet’s new sensation. It’s a parody character of an Indian man who works at a gas station. He has around 900K followers on Twitter as of June 20th.

Here is what we know about the character so far.

1. According to Know Your Meme, the first tweet from the account came on July 13th, 2013, and in September 2013, his Facebook page was created.

2. No one knows anything about the person behind the character, but on Quora, apparently the real account creator said that he is an Indian guy doing Mechanical engineering from Drexel university.

3. Almost all of his tweets, which are humorous bits curated from elsewhere, get thousands of retweets and favorites — It tells something about his humor and his strong fan following.

4. Then there are also people who want to ride on the success of others. Someone signed up on Twitter as Pakulu Papito  (PakUlu, vs PakAlu,) which is enough to confuse the readers who are not familiar with Indian names. This character has around 123K followers.

5. Metro even wrote a story on this copycat character.

6. Now this fake character PakUlu has also confused the world by tweeting Instagram videos of another Indian character with cult-ish following: JustSul on InstagramJustSulOfficial on Facebook, and MisterSul on Twitter.
