The relationship between a couple is all great when things are rosy, but the real test of a relationship is how each gender responds to stress and stressful situations.

If you are in a relationship, there will be times when you are at odds with each other. A little tenderness and care from each person’s  position can keep the relationship on track. That said, here are a few things a man can do when he is in a heated argument with his significant other.

1. Come on, it’ll be fine.

What you say: Come on, it’ll be fine.

What you really mean: Relax.

What she hears: I am crazy.

What you should say: Let’s see what you and I can do to fix it. Let’s see what we can to not let it bother you etc. Essentially, understand the situation from her point of view, and actually try to make it fine for both of you.

2. It’s all in your head

What you say: It’s all in your head

What you really mean: Relax.

What she hears: I am crazy.

What you should say: I would like to hear your perspective as to why you think that way. In other words, it may be a real thing and not just in her head. Take a look at the situation with some maturity.

3. You look fine

What you say: You look fine

What you really mean: Relax.

What she hears: I am crazy.

What you should say: You truly look beautiful. I am glad I am with you. It’s a romantic way of telling her what she wants to hear.

4. You’re crazy

What you say: You’re crazy.

What you really mean: Relax.

What she hears: I am crazy.

What you should say: I think you are being unreasonable (with this situation.)

5. Whatever

What you say: Whatever

What you really mean: Relax.

What she hears: I am crazy.

What you should say: “I understand why you are upset. Let me know what I can do to solve the situation.” In other words, don’t move on quickly and let her feel shunned by you.

6. Relax

What you say: Relax

What you really mean: Relax.

What she hears: I am crazy.

What you should say: I see why you are hurt. Let’s work it out after some time when we both have calmed down.
